This year the Aurora Chamber Music Festival in Vaenersborg turned into a Winter Festival. On the opening night we were treated to a beautiful rendition of Robert Schumann’s Piano Quintet Opus 44. The quintet was composed of the young musicians Alissa Margulis – violin, Krycztof Wegrzyn – violin and the more experienced and established musicians Hariolf Schlichtig – viola, Per Nystrom – cello and Peter Donohoe – piano. Per Nystrom is also largely responsible for the festival which now is in it’s 10th year.

After this opening we were treated to Loa Falkman, baryton, singing bits from Mozart’s operas. In between the songs he entertained us with small stories from his career which spans 42 years. His international break came in Paris doing Escamillo in Carmen. Falkman was accompanied by Peter Donohoe on the piano.

A very pleasant evening. The only sad part was having to go back to work the morning after.
